While utilizing a variety of techniques from deep tissue massage to muscle energy technique, your condition will be assessed and treated appropriately.

Here are the techniques I most often use, not ordered in priority or frequency.
General Swedish Massage
Swedish Massage is the most common type of massage, and most often used in a relaxation focus massage. If done more vigorously, it can be a stimulatory sports-oriented massage. Tissue is manipulated with lubricant to improve circulation, alleviate tension and restriction in muscles.
Myo means muscle, fascia means connective tissue. Restriction and adhesions can occur between the fascia bundling the muscle cells. This can cause pain or compromise mobility. Movement is restored by applying sustained pressure and / or torque into the myofascial. The release can feel anywhere from tingling to a burning sensation. It’s an effective technique, often combined with passive or active range of motion.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep Tissue Massage is often used to describe General Swedish Massage with firm pressure, but they are not the same. Deep Tissue Massage uses very little lubricant so that tissue can be grabbed or hooked. Tissue is stretched and lengthened so muscles that are stuck to each other can be unstuck. Although the technique can be uncomfortable for the patient, it promotes relaxation due to the calming effect it has on the nervous system.
Trigger Point Pressure Release
You know that pain point at the top, inner edge of your shoulder blade? You are feeling a myofascial trigger point. These hyperirritable nodules in tight muscles that sometimes refer radiating pain can be released with appropriate and sustained pressure. Releasing trigger points can help to relax the nervous system and muscles so you can move and feel better in your body.
Muscle Energy Technique
Joint mobility is restored through gentle, non-moving contraction of deep postural muscles. You will be instructed to ‘push’ against resistance once joints are strategically positioned. The neurological response to the applied resistance is relaxation of muscle fibers supporting the joint. You regain mobility as the “holding” muscles relax.
